The gift of teaching is a very narrow yet all teachers do not have the same goal. Each teacher at PME has a different style to help every individual child progress. As you walk, learn and discover PME has the ability to be one united school intent on making a child succeed. From the cafeterias to the custodians and administrators are all very happy to help a child go forward with the basic fundamental understanding to learn. As a mother of 3 boys who attend(ed) PME 2008-2015. I have learnt, if you want your child to succeed at elementary school level. The parent must be involved and show their support for their child(s) education by visiting the school on a regular basis.

We have been thrilled with our experience at PMES! This is my son's 4th year at the school and he has had wonderful teachers and is learning and thriving.

Although, there appear to be elements of brilliance at Pickett's Mill, I am disheartened by what appears to be a political culture fostered by the school administration. I encourage them to engage parents in embracing all students not just those deemed "talented" and truly advocate for student success though the entire school community. I believe they pursued teaching with that intent and encourage them to return to that mission.

Horrible school for children with special needs. Teacher lacks experience and compassion, with no forward thinking support from the administration. Although this school is rated high for children who learn in a similar fashion, those who have needs beyond the basics will go lacking support from this school. Hoping changes made in the City and other counties will make their way to this school in the next few years.

I have three children that has attended this school and they have nothing but great things to say about it. I also appreciate the teachers and the staff. Great job! Keep up the good work!

We have had a new amazing principal since the 2012-13 school year. She cares about each of the students and does what is best for the school. The curriculm is handed down by our goverenment. All public schools have to teach it but the school goes beyond the curriculum and teaches the students life skills that are truly important through being good role models and teaching the 7 habits.

I have two children who have attended Pickett's Mill and it has been a really good experience for both of them. The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Students is a great life skill that my children will take with them hopefully throughout their lives. Great teachers who care and use much of the technology that has been provided that includes smart boards, laptops, two computer labs and a library stocked with desktop computers. My children have been challenged and enjoy school as a result of the curriculum with a special acknowledgement to the Target Program.

I am dissapointed with the lack in consistency, the lack of ability for the school to offer challenging opportunities and newly changed curriculum. I had several meetings with my child's teacher and she did not carry through on prior discussed commitments. The principle followed up with a phone call that addressed none of our concerns. She evaded the underlying issue of the new curriculum being a negative impact. What I was told about this school is not what I truly experienced; from teacher follow up, interactions, and lack of ability to understand a child's potential. i.e. They did not review my child's academic records prior to placing him in a class that was beneath his learning level and potential. Overall have talked with SEVERAL parents at this school who agree that students who are better than average are held back by the new curriculum in order for the other students who struggle with basics to get up to speed. The teacher also has been unprofessional to make assumptions that are irrelevant to my child and his educational abilties. I was in a different Cobb county school and truly beleive it's the change in this school's leadership and new corecurriculum that is the issue.

This school is excellent. Teacher work hard to meet the needs of all their students. Great Community!

Along with learning the 7 habits, I have also learned the true meaning of disappointment when dealing with this school.

My son goes to Pickett's Mill and my family and I have been very impressed with the academic progress he has made. We give kudos to the school for their programs including the First in Maths and Reading Eggs. His teacher is a real gem. Moving here from another Cobb County School, I can see the difference.

Yesterday this school was informed of several negative comments posted here. Several people were then told to post favorable reviews in order to raise the schools image. I'm sure it's easy to realize that then three happy comments were posted. This is just highlighting all of the problems that do exist in this school. Very disappointing.

My son had the best first grade experience I could ever want. His teacher is sweet, loving, caring, supportive, and academically astounding! This school is in a great area with many other wonderful Cobb schools, however, Picketts Mill is still a head above the rest. I love the principal and assistant principal. My son enjoys practicing his writing by writing them sweet notes that somehow always end up on the outside of their office doors. They are so encouraging, and really focus on building up the children. This is a special place, and you can really tell by looking at the little things. The building is extremely clean, smiling faces greet me in the office, and the staff seems very happy. When I join my son for lunch, even the cafeteria ladies are welcoming and sweet. I love this school!

Wow! This is such a wonderfully positive environment. I love the "no bully" policy- not that I ever had a problem with bullying and my kids, but I think prevention is key. They actually took steps not only to educate children on why it is important to respect one another, but also implemented a plan called "7 Habits of Highly Effective Schools. This helped give my child with ADHD practical strategies for responsibility and accountability. Test scores are high, and the music and art programs are wonderful. I found the administration always to be caring and willing to listen and help with all concerns. It was a very fruitful experience for my daughter. Altogether wonderful!

I simply cannot say enough good things about this school. Excellence starts at the top, and runs throughout Picketts Mill Elementary, affectionately called 'The Mill" . The principal stands in the hall to personally smile and welcome each student to school every day. She and the assistant principal have worked as a team from day one (which was well before the school actually opened) to create a positive atmosphere for the staff, students, and parents. I can honestly say that as a certified teacher, I have been in several different schools as both parent and educator. None have ever topped this one. My two oldest children attended here, and I was consistently impressed by the quality education they received as well as the love they got from not only teachers, but every adult in the building! The custodial staff keeps this building SPOTLESS and always delight in "high fiving" the kids. The office staff is always friendly and kind. Staff development and teacher education is phenomenal. I cried when my oldest went to middle school, and will be thrilled when my baby becomes a Picketts Mill Pirate. I couldn't ask for a better early school experience.
